State struggles for more control over private, charity poker rooms
Gambling licenses for poker rooms doubled in a year. Revenue jumped from $13 million to $166 million in three years. The number of rooms ballooned to'2. Enough, says the state.

Casino poker language:
- CHECK RAISE - To check initially, then raise a bet made later on in the same betting round. Frequently a sign of strength, but may be a bluff.
- OUT - [1] A card that will improve your hand, often substantially. A hand with many OUTS is preferable to a hand with only 1 or 2. [2] Folded, ineligible to bet or win this hand. "I'm out" is often a synonym for "I fold".
- SUICIDE KING - King of Hearts. So named because in the drawing the king appears to be stabbing himself in the head.
- NICKEL - Five dollars, usually represented by a red casino check.
- HIT - To make a hand or catch a card or cards that improves one's hand. "I hit a gut-shot draw on the river."
- FLAT LIMIT - A variant of fixed limit where all bets are the same amount.
