The MLB’s All-Star Game is tonight, which got us to thinking - who would make the 2011 World Series of Poker All-Star Team?

 

In the Las Vegas edition of Inside Gaming, the Wynn takes the city’s first bets on a non-sporting event, the strip posts record May returns, and a CityCenter building is in big trouble.

 

Aleksandr Mozhnyakov finished as chip leader after Day 2a of the 2011 WSOP Main Event. Sean Deeb also sits near the top of the leaderboard.

 

In late June, Congressman Joe Barton (R – Texas) introduced a new bill in the United States House of Representatives aimed at legalizing and regulating online poker.  The bill, the Internet Gambling Prohibition, Poker Consumer Protection, and Strengthening UIGEA Act of 2011, was well received by the poker community and co-sponsored by, amongst others, Rep. Barney Frank (D – Mass.) and Rep. John Campbell (R – Calif.), who had previously introduced their own bill.  Last week, eGaming Review reported that not all parties associated with gaming are thrilled with the bill, though.  The American Gaming Association (AGA), an organization which represents the commercial gaming industry, will not extend its support to Barton’s bill.

The action in the Rio has been tornadic for the last couple weeks, and we’ll get you caught up on Events #40-50 via photographical tour.

 

The first four flights of Day 1 of the 2011 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, along with all the associated pomp and circumstance, are in the books, so now it’s time to get down to business.  Many players just wanted to get past Day 1, but those that are left are focused on the long road to November.  On Monday, the 2,031 survivors from Days 1A and 1C came together in both the Amazon and Pavilion rooms of the Rio in Las Vegas to battle it out in the first of two Day 2 flights.
