The latest WSOP winner is Andy Frankenberger. He won event 28 at the 2011 World Series of Poker for $599k. His biggest win prior to this victory was the $2,000 buy-in Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza III in 2010, when he won $162,110. The 38 year old is not a poker pro despite his success, but rather is a Wall Street Equities Derivatives Trader. This year was running dry for Frankenberger in terms of poker games, as he had only banked $10,000 in live tournament winnings before joining the crowds at this summer's WSOP.

Despite not playing in the 2011 WSOP, Isuldur1 still won big this weekend. The younger- than- 21 year old poker player made his winnings online. The online poker games took place at online poker room PokerStars, which is still running its SuperStar Showdown, where Victor Blom, aka Isuldur1, plays against all comers that can handle the deposit. The players compete over four tables of NLHE at the $50 / $100 stake level with $150k of their own cash. Blom won against pro Cao, but he is running down $350k for the year.

The online poker bill put forth by Joe Barton in the US could be reviewed as early as this week. The online poker bill would go before the US House of Representatives. If the bill were turned into law it would regulate online poker rooms in the US, allowing poker players to get on with their past times without any concerns they were violating poker law. In keeping with the small- government attitude of many in the US, the bill would allow for a provision that would give individual States the opportunity to opt out of the law.

Mike Sexton made his first World Poker Tour final table at the Bay 101 Shooting Star tournament, which also included Mike Matusow, Vivek Rajkumar, Casey McCarrel, Alan Sternberg, and Steven Kelly.

 

Day 20 is complete. Sam Stein, James Hess, and Chris Lee were all awarded bracelets on Sunday. Also, Phil Hellmuth is in strong contention for Event #33.

 

According to the Washington, D.C. Insider website TheHill.com, Rep. Joe Barton (R – Texas) could introduce his new online poker bill as early as this week.
