The 2011 WSOP is off to a fast start, and we’d like to share five thoughts about the action thus far.
With all the attention on the US vs online poker some are surprised to find that the WSOP attendance numbers are up this year. With players not able to win seats at online poker rooms experts thought it would signify a downturn in WSOP numbers. Compared to 2010, however, the 2011 World Series of Poker has so far drawn in more poker players than last year. Six out of the nine events so far have shown higher numbers, while three have shown lower.

Day 7 is done. Matt Perrins won the $1,500 NL 2-7 Lowball bracelet and Jon Turner took a huge chip lead into Day 3 of the $1,000 NL Hold’em Event.

There was no shortage of action at the 2011 World Series of Poker (WSOP) on Monday, as three bracelets were clinched in three entirely different events. To be fair, the final days of two of the tournaments were actually started on Sunday, but the bracelets were won after the clock struck midnight, so we’re going to put them in the books for Monday.
