Federated Sports and Gaming Poker League Revises Schedule

In case you missed it, the dates for the Federated Sports and Gaming poker league, run by Annie Duke, have changed. All of the other parameters about each tournament remain the same; however, the dates have been adjusted “out of respect for the poker community at large and to make it easier for the top live event players to participate in as many events as possible,” according to a press release.

Tournament officials explained that the Federated Sports and Gaming calendar, which was originally released in mid-February, was determined before the schedule of other high-profile, can’t-miss events on the tournament circuit.

Duke, the league’s Commissioner, commented in the same press statement, “The poker calendar is increasingly crowded and we will do our part to minimize, as much as possible, scheduling conflicts and the overlap among key live events.”

A total of four events will still take place, the first of which pans out from August 5th to 12th. The weeklong tournament series actually consists of three events. The festivities get underway with a Pro-Am tournament from August 5th to 8th. On August 7th, the Federated Sports and Gaming poker league will celebrate this author’s birthday with a charity event.

Finally, the kickoff week’s Main Event will pan out from August 9th to 12th. In total, the first stop was moved up one week on the schedule.

Each Main Event held during the four stops will have a $20,000 buy-in and, perhaps more importantly, be entirely rake-free. Yes, that’s right. The poker community will have a chance to participate in a rake-free live poker tournament with a five-figure buy-in. The only hitch is that entrants must be one of 200 chosen league members or a qualifier from that week’s Pro-Am event.

The composition of the poker league should be announced in the next few weeks following Duke’s USO tour.

Aside from being rake-free, the Main Events also have another unique aspect to them. According to a previous press release from Federated, “The four Main Events will feature different formats of No Limit Texas Hold’em, including six-handed play, a heads-up tournament with an innovative seeding structure, and a special multi-format tournament to round out the season.”

The first season of Duke’s poker league will come to an end with a Championship Event that has a $1 million prize pool. Only the top 27 players on the league’s leaderboard will be able to participate in this high-stakes freeroll.

All tournaments will pan out at the Palms in Las Vegas, right across the street from the Rio, home of the World Series of Poker. With that in mind, here is the revamped schedule for the Federated Sports and Gaming poker league’s inaugural season:
