In South Carolina a man was charged with the operation of an illegal gaming boat. The Southern US State has had a long history with poker arrests. William R. Detyens, 70, was arrested when cops found out he was holding poker games on a cruise ship on Lake Marion. Cops showed a warrant this past weekend to board the boat at the Marker 79 Marina in Vance. Poker players were not using chips and cards but rather playing video poker. In all 16 illegal video poker machines were seized as well as about $2,000 in cash

Poker pro Daniel Negreanu continued to show his poker skills in two venues recently. He beat Isuldur1 at the Superstar Showdown on Sunday at the online poker room. He then followed that up by making to the top ten during the World Series of Poker Circuit Regional Championship at Rincon. There are eighteen players left, including Ali Eslami, Scott Montgomery and Todd Terry. These are who remain out of the 98 players who paid to play in the $10k WSOPC Rincon Regional Championship, which has a $950,600 prizepool.

Online poker room PokerStars has joined forces with a land based casino to push for legal poker. While PokerStars and Wynn Resorts will work in places where poker is already legal, changing the poker law in the US is a major goal. The poker room released a statement to that effect, stating they would work towards the regulation and legalization of online poker games in the United States. The partnership stats with online poker site WynnPokerStars.com, based in the US and operating fully if and when online poker legislation could be passed.
