The Hollywood Poker Open has Begun

With 72 poker games running over more than twenty days, poker players are queuing up to play in the second annual Hollywood Poker Open. The series of poker events will end with a WPT event. The Hollywood Poker Open is part of this season's World Poker Tour, which brigns out many poker pros looking to win the million dollar plus top prize. Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patton will continue their roles as poker commentators during the TV table at the end of the main event.

Poker slang:

RAISE - To wager more than the minimum required to call, forcing other players to put in more money as well.
OPEN - Make the first bet in a hand, especially in draw poker.
POT - The total amount of money bet so far in a hand.
SHILL - A card room employee who plays with House money, and does not share in any of his (her) winnings or losses. Shills are used to facilitate starting games, and keeping them going. Compare: PROP.
ON TILT - Playing worse (usually, more aggressively) than usual because a player has become emotionally upset.
STAND OFF - To call a raise. "Opener raises, I stand off".
