A proposed poker bill in Iowa finds opposition from an unusual source, a poker players support group. The Poker Players Alliance has stated they feel the bill would be a bad idea. The bill proposed legalizing poker games within the states borders, but PPA executive director John Pappas has stated that a better bill would be legalizing poker nationwide. By limiting it to the state it could set a precedence that would result in some states where playing poker would be legal according to the state poker law, and in others the game would be illegal.

Online poker room Full Tilt Poker has announced the return of Double Guarantees Week. The special poker week will kick off on March 28th. Double Guarantees Week was first run in January, where players found their favorite poker tournaments at the poker room had double sized guaranteed prize pools. The poker site is doing the same thing in the last week of March, and going one step further by tripling the guarantees of poker tournaments on Sunday; for example the Sunday Brawl’s standard $350,000 guarantee will be $1.2 million during Guarantees Week.

During the latest game of High Stakes Poker poker pro Barry Greenstein lost all his chips. The cash game is played by high stakes poker pros, both from the online poker world and live tournaments. Greenstein is a regular at High Stakes Poker, which has new hosts with Norm Macdonald and Kara Scott providing commentary. Greenstein, though busted out early, bought back in for another $200,000, a common enough occurrence in this high stakes poker game. Next episode will feature Johnny Chan as a player.
