In a day that featured the tip-off of the 2011 NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament, lawmakers on Capitol Hill stole the show. Dominating wins by Pittsburgh and San Diego State and disheartening losses by Louisville and Vanderbilt were overshadowed by Congressmen John Campbell (R-CA) and Barney Frank (D-MA) introducing the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act. Zynga’s PokerCon is headed to Las Vegas this weekend and is attracting some of your favorite poker players. We’ll tell you who’s making an appearance there, along with some news about another big buy-in tournament that’s in the works.

 

Full House Poker on the Xbox Live Arcade was recently released and poker players have had a chance to test it out. While the online poker play and single player experiences have their appeal the live events wind up lacking for some. The game was touted as a replacement for the ultra popular 1 vs 100 game with its live tournaments, but without a live host discussing the game as it goes there is little extra appeal. The games themselves only last a half hour, which most poker players would agree makes the game more lucky heavy than otherwise.

PokerStars’ signing of Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom has increased the action at the site’s high-stakes tables. The question is, can this be attributed to Blom’s arrival on the PokerStars’ scene? Has there been a sort of “Isildur1 Effect?”

The WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star is down to its final players and a number of poker pros still have a price on their heads. The WPT Bay 101 is a bounty tournament where one pro sits at each table with a $5k bounty to any player who knocks him or her out of the poker game. As the last day begins the pros left alive are Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, WPT host Mike Sexton and a former Bay 101 runner-up, Kathy Liebert, who made her play in the Seventh Season of the popular World Poker Tour.
