This Thursday is Poker Lobbying Day in Washington State. The lead group of poker players will be the Poker Players Alliance. The PPA is a grass roots organization dedicated to protecting the rights of poker pros and other poker players in the US and around the world. They hope to raise money and awareness to fight legislation to keep poker games legal and accessible to the public. This event will be a rally at the state capital building in Washington, the only US State that makes playing online poker illegal.

The latest winner at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles is poker pro Pat Walsh. He won the $10,000 ESPN Bounty Shootout for a $241,700 prize. The final table of the poker game ran 13 hours before wrapping. Walsh’s opponents included Victor Ramdin, Joe Tehan, John Smith, Matt Woodward ,Jonathan Duhamel, Ali Eslami, Shane Schleger, and Alex Keating. Walsh is up to $552,317 in career live tournament earnings. Last year he cashed at the $10k Pot Limit Hold'em and $10k Limit Hold'em Championships at the WSOP.

A look at the online high-stakes cash games that ran over the weekend with “XWINK” taking a hit.

 

Online poker room UB.com has reaquired one of their own poker pros. Adam "ROOTHLUS" Levy has reupped for another two years stint with the poker room. He joined UB.com in October of 2008 the first time and is happy to stick around till 2013. The online poker room has also resigned Eric Baldwin for an additional two year stint. Other poker pros who call UB.com their home include Joe Sebok and Prahlad Friedman. Levy has career earnings of over $3.2 million from playing poker in live and online venues.

The Bay 101 Shooting Star event, a stop on the World Poker Tour (WPT), began on Monday afternoon in San Jose, California with 142 players. When the drama ended for the evening, just 66 remained with Day 1B looming on the horizon today.
