The National Football League put the brakes on player participation at a recent charity poker event. In the end the NFL players were allowed to watch but not play in the poker game. The NFL players were ready to play and even had assigned seats when the NFL issued an edict declaring that they could not be poker players, just poker observers. The charity event raised money at the Golden Nuggest Casino in Las Vegas for Starkey, a Minneapolis foundation that provides hearing aids to children. The Raise Your Hand for Africa poker event also had big name celebrities like Steve Martin.
