Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Dan “jungleman12” Cates put in a long session on Wednesday, as the two high-stakes stars logged more than 1,400 hands of $200/$400 No Limit Hold’em, moving them past 11,000 hands of the 50,000-hand Durrrr Challenge. Dwan, who entered the day down $755,000 through about 10,000 hands, managed to cut his opponent’s lead by $172,000 despite losing the five biggest pots of the session.
Looking forward to 2011, 888 Poker has announced that it is opening up satellites for the 30th anniversary of the Irish Poker Open.
Don’t believe everything you read on the internet. On Wednesday, just hours after publishing a story claiming that legislation to legalize online poker introduced by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) had been dropped, the Las Vegas Sun newspaper issued a correction. Instead, the legislation remains very much alive and may be added to the tax relief bill.

Nearly leading the tournament wire-to-wire, Antonio Esfandiari took down the Five Diamond World Poker Classic, a stop on the World Poker Tour (WPT). Esfandiari, a Victory Poker pro, banked $870,000 for his efforts. The tournament can be seen as part of Season 9 of the WPT on Fox Sports Net next year.
