Foxwoods, one of the largest land-based casino operators in the United States, is broadening its horizons. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribe’s development arm, Foxwoods Development Company LLC, revealed plans to partner with television and entertainment firm Goodson Gaming to develop an international online gaming presence. The joint venture has been dubbed Velocity Gaming.
The 18th installment of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) kicked off on Wednesday with a $200 No Limit Hold’em tournament that pulled in 4,500 entrants to generate a prize pool of $900,000. The event was hosted by World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event runner-up John Racener.
While the attention of the poker world was focused on the 2010 World Series of Poker November Nine, the World Poker Tour (WPT) made its first stop ever in Amneville, France for a €3,200 event. With an outpouring of support from some of the best players in Europe, Sam El Sayed emerged as the champion of the tournament after a 12-hour final table.
On Sunday flanking NFL coverage on FOX, a new episode of the PokerStars “Million Dollar Challenge” aired. The Chris Rose-hosted show has become one of the industry’s staple television series and last week, Johnny Whitt from Houston, Texas challenged a stable of PokerStars pros and celebrities. On the line was a $100,000 match against Daniel Negreanu and a shot at $1 million.
