PokerStars, the largest online poker site in the industry, cracked an unofficial record last week for the most players in action simultaneously on cash game tables.
On Monday, September 27th, online poker room UB.com announced that it will be sponsoring the tour bus of legendary metal band Anthrax during the rest of its United States tour in September and October. As many poker players know, this is not just a random sponsorship, as Team UB member Scott Ian is the front man for Anthrax and is actually known to play at UB.com while on the bus.
Fresh off another successful cycle of the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), PokerStars made another big announcement on Tuesday. U.K. poker pro Liv Boeree was named the newest member of Team PokerStars Pro a few months after leaving UB.com.

When the smoke cleared, Britain’s James Bord took down the title on his home turf at the Casino at the Empire in London. The two-hour broadcast saw Matt “mcmatto” Affleck, who had the chip lead for an extensive period of time last year, take to the feature table alongside tennis pro turned poker player Nick Rainey. The day began with 24 tables in action from what was once a field of well over 7,000 players.
