We captured the 50 Billionth Hand being dealt at PokerStars, which was to award at least $50,000 to the winner of the hand. The hand was dealt in the morning on September 22nd, 2010 as part of the huge 50 Billion Milestone Hand promotion at PokerStars, the world’s largest poker site. We captured the the final hand, which happened to take place at the Micro-Stakes at a $0.02-$0.05 6-handed No Limit Hold’em table. On the promotional hand, all players wisely went all-in to maximize the amount of VPPs they earned in the hand, as PokerStars added a multiplier to their last 50 hand VPP counts.
About a year ago, Britain’s Paul Zimbler played poker for over 72 consecutive hours at the World Series of Poker Europe, making his stamp on the Guinness Book of World Records. Then, this June, Phil “The Unabomber” Laak crushed Zimbler’s mark, playing $10/$20 Hold’em at the Bellagio in Las Vegas for 115 hours straight. Many thought it would take someone with no fear to attempt to best Laak. It looks like this November, there may be as many as 80 someones.
London’s own Scott Shelley earned his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet Tuesday morning by winning the WSOP Europe ₤1,075 No Limit Hold’em Event #3, collecting £133,857. Shelley bested a field of 508 players to join Phil Laak and Jeffrey Lisandro in the winner’s circle at WSOP Europe, which is celebrating its fourth year at London’s Casino at the Empire.
