TyboVegas Wins FTOPS XVII Main Event
The 17th installment of the Full Tilt Poker Online Poker Series (FTOPS) came to a close early Monday morning as a winner was crowned in the $640 Main Event. “TyboVegas” bested “DQnk” heads-up to win the title, the gold jersey, and more than $423,000 in prize money. Despite taking second place, DQnk actually locked up more money ($446,943), as the two players struck a deal during heads-up play.
The Main Event fell short of its $3,000,000 guaranteed prize pool, as 4,805 players took to the felts resulting in an overlay of $117,000. But the turnout was still positive compared to that of past series. Despite not hitting the guarantee, the prize pool would still have been the largest in FTOPS Main Event history. The previous high was $2,822,500 for FTOPS XVI in May 2010.
Full Tilt Poker Red Pro Joao Barbosa fell short of the final table, taking 27th, but was the highest finisher among the 75 Full Tilt Pros that participated. Other Red Pros that cashed include Ferrari Zumbini (47th), Eunjong Byun (88th), Michael Craig (146th), Ram Vaswani (413th), Leandro Brasa (448th), Vivek Rajkumar (468th), Marco Leisy (582nd), Joe Reitman (593rd), and Adam Schoenfeld (642nd).
The final table was relatively free of big names, but Jeremy “JBurleson” Burleson capped off a fantastic series by taking ninth place for $31,500. Burleson won the Triple Shootout earlier in the series for $76,545. Here’s how the Main Event Final table played out:
1. TyboVegas – $423,057
2. DQnk – $446,943
3. flagal43 – $255,000
4. roo7227 – $192,000

7. einstein007 – $64,500
8. angrywhale – $45,000
9. JBurleson – $31,500
Mike “chapmoney” Chappus took 266th place in the Main Event for $1,500, enough to secure the FTOPS Player of the Series honor. Chappus was the only player to win two events, taking down Event #3 ($300 Six-Handed Turbo No Limit Hold’em Shootout) and Event #24 ($200 No Limit Hold’em Cashout). The Player of the Series is awarded with their own Full Tilt Poker avatar, so look for Chappus’ mugshot at the high-stakes tables in the near future.
