Jared Tendler Video Interview
Jared Tendler is one of the most respected names in the world of mental game coaching in the poker industry. He was originally brought into the world of poker by Dusty “Leatherass” Schmidt and became a coach on Stox Poker. From there he gained clients, including Matt “mbolt1” Bolt and other top online professionals. Currently he offers coaching through his website, JaredTendlerPoker.com, as well as creates videos for poker training site DragTheBar.com.
One element that Tendler brings that many mental coaches do not is an educated background in therapy. He has a Master’s degree in psychology and doesn’t focus on how to deal with tilt, but helps you figure out what causes tilt in the first place so it can be prevented. Tendler is a licensed mental health counselor.
Some of Tendler’s listed clients include the aforementioned Dusty Schmidt and Matt Bolt, but also Hunter “Beachjustice” Bick, Paul “GiantBuddha” Hoppe and Alan Jackson. An entire description of Tendler’s services can be found on his website, and he says he commonly works with players on all reasons of tilt, anxiety, focus, confidence and motivation. New clients are required to fill out a questionnaire which help Tender start sessions in an informed atmosphere.
In this interview, Tendler talks about why he visited the 2010 World Series of Poker and comments a bit about his client, Schmidt. He also talks about his upcoming book, which promises to be a user-friendly guide for poker players to tackle mental and emotional problems, while maximizing performance. Tendler said that he is hoping to have his book completed around Thanksgiving of this year.
