With the World Series of Poker (WSOP) now completed – save for the determination of the world champion from the November Nine – the online poker room DoylesRoom has announced the latest member of its prestigious Brunson 10.

At the start of the WSOP, Doyle Brunson put four players up for what would be the seventh slot on his hand picked team of young professionals who represent the site by using a points formula when each player cashed in a tournament. The battle featuring David “Doc Sands” Sands, Dan “djk123” Kelly, Faraz “The_Toilet” Jaka, and Michael “martin23” Martin looked to be a thrilling and close fight, as all four players are highly skilled in both the live and online arenas.

The quartet jousted through the eight-week WSOP, with the lead in the competition changing at several points. “The_Toilet” seized a slight edge before “Doc Sands” came back to pass Jaka and capture the top spot. There would be another change on the leaderboard as it came to its final days, however.

A few days prior to the start of the WSOP Main Event, Sands held a slight lead over Kelly, who promptly took down Event #52, the $25,000 Six-Handed No Limit Hold’em tournament. By winning that bracelet, Kelly earned an automatic spot on the Brunson 10, leaving Sands, Jaka, and Martin to fight over a spot of their own.

After the dust settled following the WSOP Main Event, Sands had earned 2,269.10 leaderboard points, easily outpacing Jaka and Martin to take the “Become a Legend” title. Over the span of the WSOP, Sands cashed in five separate events, winning over $88,000. Jaka attempted to keep pace with Sands through the grind of the WSOP, but came up just a bit short in the end.

“The_Toilet” racked up three cashes in WSOP events, two of which came in tournaments with a significant buy-in. Jaka finished eighth in the $10,000 Heads-Up Championship and grabbed 31st in the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout. Jaka’s three cashes earned him more money ($113,646) than Sands, but fewer points (1323.38) due to their smaller prize pools and field sizes. Martin failed to crack the board during the WSOP.

With the “Become a Legend” competition over, Sands and Kelly now join a group of players that will be highly competitive – both live and online – for several years to come. Their respective achievements during the WSOP – Kelly’s bracelet win and Sands’ victory in the “Become a Legend” competition – make them the seventh and eighth members of the “Brunson 10,” joining Zachary “CrazyZachary” Clark, Amit “amak316” Makhija, Dani “Ansky” Stern, Chris “Moorman1” Moorman, Alex “AJKHoosier1” Kamberis, and Steve “gboro780” Gross.
