With the new French gambling laws in effect for more than a month now, PokerScout.com’s Weekly Online Poker Traffic Update included its first estimates of the market last week. Early on, it appears that PokerStars.fr and EverestPoker.fr are drawing the most new players, while Ongame and PartyPoker‘s French networks have started slowly in comparison.
With the World Series of Poker (WSOP) wrapped up until November, poker players on Twitter returned to their normal routines. Much of their attention was focused on Annie Duke as she testified in front of a Congressional committee regarding online gaming regulation.
Jonathan Duhamel is the chip leader for the 2010 WSOP November Nine. The Quebec native entered Day 7 in 17th out of 27 places but was able to take a hot run on Day 8 to take a massive chip lead in the world’s biggest poker tournament. Previously in this World Series of Poker, Duhamel took 15th in a $2,500 No Limit Hold’em tournament and made $37,000. His stack when play was suspended at the final table is at 65.98 million in chips.

While at this year’s World Series of Poker, I took the opportunity to play in quite a few different $1-$2 No Limit Hold’em (NLHE) games at casinos all over Las Vegas. I also watched some friends of mine who were out for a quasi-annual pilgrimage to poker Mecca. In short, I feel like I got a good snapshot of the $1-$2 NLHE action in Las Vegas.
