A lengthy hearing in the House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday featured discussion of HR 2267, the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act. After a fairly standard hearing by internet gambling standards, Congressman John Campbell (R-AL) dropped a bombshell, alluding to a markup hearing of the bill next week. As of the time of writing, no such hearing has been announced.
Filippo Candio is the last European player standing in the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event and has made the prestigious November Nine. The 25-year-old Italian poker player hails from Cagliari, Italy and is known as both a live tournament player and an online cash game player. He previous won the Italian Pro Championship in San Remo for €140,000.
Soi Nguyen is this year’s everyday average Joe as the only true amateur in the November Nine field. The oldest competitor remaining at 37-years-old, the Santa Ana, CA native is playing in just his fourth live poker tournament ever. He does have a cash in the L.A. Poker Classic to his credit, so he’s not completely inexperienced with big-time poker.
According to a report from the gaming industry website eGaming Review, PokerStars has named former 888.com official Gabi Campos as the new Chief Executive Officer for the online poker operation.
The first match of the highly anticipated Durrrr Challenge has been running since February of 2009 and there doesn’t appear to be an end in sight. Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Patrik Antonius still have 11,026 hands left in the challenge and the two haven’t played a session since April 30. But that isn’t stopping Dwan from lining up his next opponents.
Matthew Jarvis is a member of the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event November Nine. On his way to poker fame he was able to make several critical knockouts including Benjamin Statz in 16th place and Full Tilt Poker pro Scott Clements in 18th place when his A-K held up against A-Q. The biggest knockout he delivered came at the final table when play was at 10 players and had his pocket Queens hold up against Brandon Steven’s A-K which set the field down to the November Nine.
