Michael Mizrachi November Nine Video Interview
Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi has had one of the most amazing World Series runs in history and joins us moments after clinching his spot in the 2010 WSOP November Nine. He comes in as the most accomplished professional poker player who has bracelets and WPT titles to his name. So far in his career he has over $6.7 million in tournament earnings.
Mizrachi talks about many of the events that led up to his place in the coveted November Nine. First, he discusses his place in history after a blazing run through the 2010 World Series of Poker. Next he talks about winning the prestigious 2010 WSOP $50,000 Player’s Championship and what that means to him. We also find out what is next on Mizrachi’s schedule with upcoming WPT and WSOPE events in the next few months. Finally, he talks about his passion for boating as well as stealing away thunder from new Miami Heat member LeBron James.
His win at the L.A. Poker Classic, a WPT event, netted him $1.8 million and put him on the poker map. In 2006, Mizrachi got another victory at the WPT Borgata Open and won Card Player’s Player of the Year award. Originally hailing from Miami, Florida, he comes into the final table of the Main Event as the most recognizable face at the table. When taping began for the final 10 players to play down to 9 for ESPN, his supporters were out en masse cheering him every step of the way. Although he came into the table as a severe shortstack on the verge of busting, he walked away in 7th place with a decent 14.45 million chip stack.
Mizrachi originally had hoped to be a doctor and went to school, but decided that poker would be a better career after starting at the $10 games and eventually moving all the way up to $100/$200 games.
