John Racener November Nine Video Interview
John Racener joins us shortly after making the November Nine and discusses what this feat means to him and what events lead up to this amazing run. Racener, who is known online as “$JMONEY$” made the 2010 WSOP November Nine thanks to some sick poker skills and of course, a little run-good. In this interview he also talks about his life as a traveling tournament pro who also plays online and talks about some of the big hands played at the final table when the players were down to just 10. Racener faced aggression early on including two pre-flop 3bets and a cold 4bet, which he laid his hand down to.
Racener is no stranger to poker success as he has huge scores already posted on his resume. He finished third in the Full Tilt Poker $750,000 Guaranteed back in April of 2009 for a $54,000 score and once won the PokerStars $500,000 Guaranteed. He has also finished third in a WSOP Circuit Event in Atlantic City and bubbled a final table for a World Poker Tour event. Back in December of 2007, Racener won a WSOP Circuit Championship to the tune of $379,000.
Racener was able to parlay his chip lead at the dinner break of Day 6 into a spot into poker’s most coveted fraternity – the November Nine of the World Series of Poker Main Event. Going into the final table in November, Racener will have 19.05 million in chips at his disposal, good enough for fourth place behind Jonathan Duhamel, John Dolan and Joseph Cheong. If Racener would eventually finish in fourth place in the Main Event once everything is said and done, he would stand to win $3.09 million, clearly his largest cash ever.
According to online leader board rankings, Racener has made over $1 million already in just online tournaments. He recorded a final table trip back in the 2009 WSOP and had four cashes in tournaments during that year as well.

Casino poker language:
- SHORT-STACKED - Playing with a only a small amount of money, thus limiting one's risk and reward.
- SEAT POSITION - The actual seat a player has, normally numbered sequentially starting with 1 as the first seat to dealer's left. Not to be confused with POSITION in a particular pot. Typically unrelated to play of a hand but often important in peripheral aspects, e.g.: "Seats 1 and 10 are nonsmoking here", "Seat 5 has a good view of the table", "Seat 3 is in a high-traffic area".
- RING GAME - A standard game where players can come and go as they choose. The opposite of TOURNAMENT.
- PAY STATION - A player who rarely folds, thus who frequently calls better hands and loses. Almost as much fun as a LIVE ONE.
- BLUFF - To make a bet or raise with a poor hand, in hope that the remaining active player(s) will fold.
- UNDERDOG - Before all the cards are dealt, a hand that does not figure to be the winner. Ant: FAVORITE.
