John Dolan – Poker Player Profile
Young online pro John Dolan is not afraid of putting his money where his mouth is, and he has been rewarded for his courage with remarkable success.
Dolan is a resident of Fort Myers, Florida, and he ponied up $10,000 to buy into the 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event. He proceeded to make such a deep run in poker’s most prestigious event that, at the time of writing, he stands to win a minimum of $255,000, which will more than double his current lifetime live tournament winnings of $216,000.
2009 was a very big year for the Florida pro, whose Pocket Fives scouting report has this flattering note: “In February ’09, John Dolan of Florida won the Full Tilt Poker $1k Monday for $94,500. This victory came only one day after he placed 3rd in the PokerStars $100 rebuy for over $13k. He also has a win in the Stars $100 rebuy from July ’08 for $ 40,400.”
Dolan ended 2009 with a big win at the Winter Bayou Poker Challenge, where he came on top of the field to win a first prize of nearly $32,000.
John Dolan made a splash in the 2010 World Series of Poker, starting with a very nice 32nd place finish in Event #30, a $1,500 buy in No Limit Poker event which netted him $13,541. He followed this with a final table performance at Event #36, an incentive tourney with a $1,000 buy in which attracted a massive field of 3,102 players. Dolan made an impressive 6th place finish, which earned him $82,804. It remains to be seen if he will make an even greater splash by moving on to day 8 or even more, by making it into the November Nine. And who knows, maybe the biggest, shiniest gold bracelet of 2010 will go to the Sunny State.
