Joe Cada Penalty Kick Prop Bet
Joe Cada won the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2009, winning over $8 million and catapulting him to superstar status in the poker world. But what happens when he’s challenged by our own Sean Gibson in a penalty kick prop bet?
In this video, Cada joins us from a park next to the Rio in Las Vegas while the 2010 World Series of Poker is taking place during a break in his schedule. Inspired by the World Cup, Cada and Gibson face off in a penalty kick prop bet with Cada’s own agent acting as goalie. We find out Cada’s soccer roots as he tells us his story in this rare inside look at the Main Event champ.

Poker lingo:
- TAPPED [OUT] - Out of money. Can refer to a player running out of money in the course of a hand, thus still active for the main pot; or can refer to a player who has lost his bankroll and can no longer play.
- CHECK RAISE - To check initially, then raise a bet made later on in the same betting round. Frequently a sign of strength, but may be a bluff.
- SUITED - Two or more cards all the same suit. Ant: OFF-SUIT.
- LATE BLIND - In addition to "regular" blinds, some games allow a player (particularly a new one) to post a blind bet in return for the right to enter the game immediately and act last on the first betting round. The amount of the blind is determined by house rules, usually somewhere between the last blind and double the last blind. It is frequently a LIVE BLIND.
- WALK - A pot won by the last blind when no one opens.
- PASS - Opposite of bet. To check, if checked to. To fold, if bet to.
