Phil Hellmuth Interview – Part 1 of 4
Phil Hellmuth gives Poker News Daily exclusive access to his Las Vegas hotel suite and provides an intimate look into perhaps the biggest name in the entire industry of poker. Interviewed by Daily Deal host Sean Gibson, the two spent twenty minutes talking about Hellmuth’s current mental state and where his game is right now at the World Series of Poker as well as other personal topics such as the importance of family and charity work. Filmed just before Time Magazine arrived to shoot him for a story for their magazine, Hellmuth offers a rare interview and look into one of the most talked about players in poker history.
Hellmuth is considered the greatest live tournament No Limit Hold’em player of all time and currently has 11 bracelets to his name. There is no more polarizing figure in the game, with fans both loving and hating him at the same time, with his draw when he makes a big run undeniable.

Casino poker language:
- STAKE - The amount of a player's BUY-IN, or the amount of money they are willing to play with in a given session. Compare: BANKROLL.
- ON THE COME - A situation where the player does not have a complete hand but hopes to make one if the right cards come up.
- POT LIMIT - A game where the maximum bet is determined by the size of the pot at the time. Note that a player wanting to raise first calls the bet, then totals the pot to determine the maximum amount he can raise.
- SEVENTH STREET - The seventh card dealt in 7-card stud.
- DEAD MAN'S HAND - Generically: two pair, aces and eights. Specifically: the black aces, black eights and nine of diamonds. The hand Wild Bill Hickok was holding when he was shot to death.
- RAINBOW - In flop games, a flop in which no two cards are of the same suit. "The flop was A 9 7 rainbow."
