Mental Coach Sam Chauhan Interview

Sam Chauhan is the mental guru that has coached some of the top names in poker with amazing results. His most recent pupil was none other than David Williams, who was able to rebalance his mindset after a month of training and leverage that to a victory at the WPT Championship. Chauhan has published one book with two books pending publication which he talks about in this interview which took place at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. In this interview, Chauhan talks about commonalities between his poker clients and some of the problems all poker players face and what they can do to correct themselves to find the right mindset. Other clients in the Chauhan stable include Phil Hellmuth and Josh Arieh.

Useful poker terms:

STRAIGHT - A hand consisting of 5 cards in sequence but not in suit.
FAMILY POT - A pot where all of the players at the table are participating, even after each has had an opportunity to act.
PAT HAND - In draw poker, a hand that does not need any more cards. Specifically, a straight, flush, full house or straight flush. One might bluff and represent a pat hand but actually hold something else.
FREE CARD - A card dealt after all players checked in a betting round.
FLUSH - A poker hand consisting of five cards all one suit.
FILL - To draw a card that makes a five-card hand (straight, flush, full house, straight flush).
