Bernard Lee Poker Show Celebrates Third Anniversary
In May, the “Bernard Lee Poker Show,” which airs on 1120AM in Boston, 970AM in Worcester, and 1390AM in Cape Cod, will celebrate its third anniversary by welcoming several high-profile players. The show can be heard from 6:00pm to 7:00pm ET on Tuesdays and is simulcast on RoundersRadio.
Lee is a sponsored pro of Foxwoods and one of the top media minds in New England. On May 4th, Lee kicked off his third anniversary celebration by welcoming reigning World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship winner David Williams, who recently parted ways with Bodog. Williams had been with the USA-friendly site ever since finishing as the runner-up to Greg Raymer in the 2004 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event for $3.5 million. Williams owns a WSOP bracelet and gold ring.
This week and next week, Lee welcomes Annie Duke, who took down the 2010 National Heads-Up Poker Championship. The Poker News Daily Guest Columnist is also an instructor for the WSOP Academy and finished as the runner-up to comedian Joan Rivers on the second cycle of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice.” Duke, a UB.com pro and bracelet winner, has appeared on a multitude of other television programs including “Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader,” “1 vs. 100,” and Fox Sports Net’s “Best Damn Poker Show.”
On May 25th, 2005 WSOP Main Event champion and Aussie sensation Joe Hachem will join the “Bernard Lee Poker Show.” Hachem won $7.5 million for taking down the prestigious $10,000 buy-in tournament five years ago after defeating a talented final table that included Steve Dannenmann, Aaron Kanter, Andy Black, and Mike Matusow, who finished ninth. Hachem finished 109th in last year’s Main Event and has more than $8 million in career WSOP earnings.
Lee initially gained fame for finishing 13th in the 2005 WSOP Main Event for $400,000. Then, he completed a three-peat at the Foxwoods World Poker Finals, capturing titles in three straight years from 2006 to 2008. Lee nearly made it four in a row in 2009, but finished ninth in a $1,375 No Limit Hold’em event.
Lee owns more than $1.3 million in lifetime tournament earnings and now makes a name for himself in the poker media world. He’s a columnist for the Boston Herald newspaper and co-hosts ESPN.com’s poker news program “Inside Deal” with Laura Lane. Lee also writes for ESPN.com and Poker News Daily. His two poker books, “The Final Table” Volumes I and II, have been hits with readers across the globe. The two volumes chronicle popular content from his newspaper column.
Past guests on the “Bernard Lee Poker Show” have included reigning WSOP Main Event champ Joe Cada, 2008 WSOP Main Event winner Peter Eastgate, former Tennessee accountant and “The Man Who Started it All” Chris Moneymaker, Raymer, Poker Hall of Fame member Mike Sexton, and 11-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth. If you miss the Tuesday night airing of the “Bernard Lee Poker Show,” RoundersRadio carries the program throughout the week.
In February, Lee became one of the first poker pros to sign with a brick-and-mortar casino, joining the team at Foxwoods. The casino offers the only World Poker Tour (WPT) branded poker room in New England and houses 104 tables. The casino is fresh off announcing that former November Nine members Dennis Phillips and Kevin Schaffel will host the Mega Stack Challenge XVI. The tournament series kicked off on Tuesday and features a three-day $1,650 No Limit Hold’em Main Event starting on Saturday.
Congratulations from all of us here at Poker News Daily to Lee for three memorable years of radio programming.
