Victoria Coren was born on August 18, 1973 into a middle-class Jewish family in North London. Her father was humorist and journalist Alan Coren and, at the age of 14, young Vicky followed in her father’s footsteps by winning a competition in the Daily Telegraph to write a column about teenage life, which she wrote for several years. Around the same time, her older brother taught her poker and she has been obsessed with both writing and cards ever since.

Eric “Basebaldy” Baldwin just finished in 2nd place at the recent World Poker Tour’s $25,000 Five-Diamond Championship Event. For his efforts he won $1 million and spoke just after the tournament was completed with us. We talked about how he was able to get heads-up against eventual champion David Williams as well as what it takes to be one of the best tournament players in the game.

 

It has been a while since the “superuser” cheating scandal at Absolute Poker (AP) has been the hot topic of conversation (the larger one at AP’s sister site, UB.com has received more attention over the past year), but new evidence has come to light which seems to point overwhelmingly to AP co-founder, Scott Tom, as the primary culprit. The evidence comes courtesy of Haley Hintze, a former editor for PokerNews.com and a well-respected poker blogger. Hintze has spent much of her time over the last couple years attempting to uncover as much information as possible about both scandals in an effort to both educate the poker public and definitely determine who was responsible.
