WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 (UPI) — U.S. backers of Internet gambling say they are pushing ahead with efforts to legalize and regulate online poker and other games.
The inaugural North American Poker Tour (NAPT) event on U.S. soil will include a special $25,000 buy-in High Roller Bounty Shootout, according to the PokerStars Blog. The world’s largest online poker site serves as the sponsor of the NAPT series.
In newsstands now is the February issue of Bluff Magazine. The new cycle of the periodical features the Power 20, the most influential entities in the world of poker. Leading the list are two online poker sites, PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker.
The name Trash Talk Championship may lead you to believe that poker at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas was down and dirt Saturday afternoon, but in reality it was all smiles, fun and money for a good cause as celebrities and poker pros alike took part in the charity poker event. The $1,000 + $70 event drew more than sixty participants and helped to raise money for the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
