Annie Duke to host one-day tournament in Palas new poker room
PALA, Calif. Southern California poker players can win a share of $25,000 and test their skill against poker pro Annie Duke when she hosts the $25,000 Annie Duke Free Roll Poker Challenge starting at 9 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 in the new Poker Room at Pala Casino Spa & Resort.

Useful poker information:
- KICKER - In hands containing pairs and trips, the highest card not matched. In draw games, sometimes a card kept for deception purposes.
- FISH - A player who loses money. An old saying is "If you can't spot the fish at the table, *you* are the fish.".
- PAT - Holding or being dealt a pat hand. "I'm pat" would mean "I don't want to draw any cards.
- UNDER THE GUN - The position that has to act first in a round of betting.
- CHECK RAISE - To check initially, then raise a bet made later on in the same betting round. Frequently a sign of strength, but may be a bluff.
- OVER - A term used in describing two pair or a full house. "Kings over tens" means two pair, kings and tens. "Jacks over", also "Jacks up" describes a hand that is two pair: Jacks with an unspecified lower pair. Also used to describe a full house, distinguishing the three of a kind from the pair. The hand J-J-J-A-A could be described as "Full house, Jacks over Aces".
