Three charged in illegal poker operation
Police charged three people on Friday morning for operating illegal video poker machines. The charges followed a late night raid of Lee Ann Lao Market, 3084 N.C. 18 S., where authorities found 10 of the machines in a backroom.

Poker lingo:
- LOOSE - Playing more hands than the norm. Antonym: TIGHT.
- LATE POSITION - For a particular betting round, a player who does not have to act until most of the other players have acted.
- PASS - Opposite of bet. To check, if checked to. To fold, if bet to.
- FOURTH STREET - In stud poker, the fourth card dealt to each player. Sometimes used to refer to the fourth community card dealt in Hold'em, although the more common term for this is TURN (q.v.).
- SHORT-STACKED - Playing with a only a small amount of money, thus limiting one's risk and reward.
- OPENER - The player who opens the betting, especially in draw poker. A hand may have no openers, in which case it is PASSED OUT, i.e., new hands are dealt.
