Poker run benefit for Joe Gale scheduled for Aug. 22
ONEIDA Friends For a Friend 6th Annual Poker Run benefiting Joe Gale (Verona Beach resident) who is battling liver cancer and is in need of a liver transplant will be held Saturday, Aug. 22.

Poker slang:
- READ - To determine whether an opponent has a good, medium or bad hand by observing his personal behavior. An inexact science.
- PAT HAND - In draw poker, a hand that does not need any more cards. Specifically, a straight, flush, full house or straight flush. One might bluff and represent a pat hand but actually hold something else.
- CHECK RAISE - To check initially, then raise a bet made later on in the same betting round. Frequently a sign of strength, but may be a bluff.
- SEVENTH STREET - The seventh card dealt in 7-card stud.
- FREE CARD - A card dealt after all players checked in a betting round.
- HOLE CARDS - In Stud and Hold'em, the face-down cards dealt to each player.
