Poker players push for internet gambling
WASHINGTON The Poker Players Alliance hopes a hot hand in the nations capital this week will help its efforts to legalize online poker. Poker glossary:
- NICKEL - Five dollars, usually represented by a red casino check.
- OPENER - The player who opens the betting, especially in draw poker. A hand may have no openers, in which case it is PASSED OUT, i.e., new hands are dealt.
- STRAIGHT - A hand consisting of 5 cards in sequence but not in suit.
- WALK - A pot won by the last blind when no one opens.
- HOLE CARDS - In Stud and Hold'em, the face-down cards dealt to each player.
- SUICIDE KING - King of Hearts. So named because in the drawing the king appears to be stabbing himself in the head.
