UW-Whitewater grad, athlete wins World Series of Poker event
Eric Baldwin, a 26-year-old poker pro who graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and played on the school’s 2005 Division 3 national championship baseball team, won a World Series of Poker event worth $521,991 Thursday in Las Vegas.

Poker dictionary:
- FILL - To draw a card that makes a five-card hand (straight, flush, full house, straight flush).
- MANIAC - A player who bets, raises and reraises without regard to the quality of his hand. Most often found in flop games.
- CRYING CALL - A call made with little chance of ultimately winning, but marginally better than an immediate fold.
- OMAHA - A variant of Hold'em where each player receives 4 hole cards and must use exactly two of them (together with 3 of 5 board cards) to make a hand. Often played high-low split with an 8 qualifier for low.
- TAPPED [OUT] - Out of money. Can refer to a player running out of money in the course of a hand, thus still active for the main pot; or can refer to a player who has lost his bankroll and can no longer play.
- OPEN-HANDED - A category of games characterized by a part of each player's hand being exposed.
