Poker at the legion
Drayton Valley card lovers will soon have no excuse to not play cards. Starting Jan. 5 Barb and Terrance MacDonald will be hosting a weekly Texas Holdem tournament at the legion every Monday night.

Poker glossary:
- QUARTER - [1] Twenty-five dollars, often symbolized by a green casino chip. [2] To divide half a pot between two tying hands. In split pot games, a player who "ties" another player for their half of the pot is said to be "quartered". One might say "I didn't bet my A-2 because I figured I'd get quartered".
- FREE CARD - A card dealt after all players checked in a betting round.
- SPLIT [THE POT] - To split the pot between two or more players. Related term: QUARTER.
- ROLLED UP - In seven-card stud, being dealt three of a kind in the first three cards.
- RUSH - A winning streak. Also "ON A RUSH".
- STACKED [DECK] - A deck that has been arranged to give one player a huge advantage. Also: RIGGED.
