Poker lingo:

  • ON THE COME - A situation where the player does not have a complete hand but hopes to make one if the right cards come up.
  • CUT - To break the deck into 2 stacks of at least 5 cards each. Usually performed by the player to the dealer's right to insure that the the deck is not stacked.
  • STUCK - Down a nontrivial amount of money, as in "he's stuck $800".
  • REPRESENT - Implying, by one's betting style, that one has a particular hand.
  • OVERPAIR - In Hold'em, a pair in the hole that is larger than any community card on the board.
  • MILES OF BAD ROAD - Three of a kind. Prefixed with a number, 3*<N>, to indicate 3 <N>s. Thus "24 miles of bad road" is 3 eights, etc. (This obviously doesn't work for face cards.)
