  • JOKER - A 53rd card in the deck, distinct from the others, used as a wild card or as a BUG.
  • DEAD MONEY - Money contributed to the pot by players who have folded.
  • TURN - The fourth community card in Hold'em.
  • STAKE - The amount of a player's BUY-IN, or the amount of money they are willing to play with in a given session. Compare: BANKROLL.
  • COMMUNITY CARDS - Cards that are available for every player to use in making a hand. Usually dealt face up somewhere in the middle of the table.
  • EXPECTATION - The long-run [dis-]advantage of a given situation, specifically without reference to any particular outcome. I.e., what you figure to win [lose] on average after a large number of repetitions of the same situation.
