Here is a fascinating hand from my table on day three of the World Series Europe. American expat Brian Johnson raised to 4,500 (blinds 1K-2K) from mid-table. Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott called on the button. The flop came 7 of clubs K of hearts Q of hearts. Johnson checked. Devilfish fired out 15,000. Johnson smoothly called

Poker terminology:
- TRIPS - Three of a kind. In Hold'em the term SET is used when two of the three cards are hole cards.
- BRODERICK CRAWFORD - In Hold'em, hole cards of 10-4. From the 1950s TV series "Highway Patrol", starring Broderick Crawford.
- TAP - In no-limit games, to wager all of one's money in one bet.
- OVER - A term used in describing two pair or a full house. "Kings over tens" means two pair, kings and tens. "Jacks over", also "Jacks up" describes a hand that is two pair: Jacks with an unspecified lower pair. Also used to describe a full house, distinguishing the three of a kind from the pair. The hand J-J-J-A-A could be described as "Full house, Jacks over Aces".
- OPENER - The player who opens the betting, especially in draw poker. A hand may have no openers, in which case it is PASSED OUT, i.e., new hands are dealt.
- MANIAC - A player who bets, raises and reraises without regard to the quality of his hand. Most often found in flop games.
