The family of Staff Sgt. Victor Cortes III will host a poker run Saturday to launch a new Erie County charity. The event will honor Cortes, an Erie native who served as a mechanic for the U.S. Army’s 703rd Forward Support Battalion. He died at a U.S. base in Baghdad on May 29, 2005. He was 29.
