Poker Ad Causes Uproar

When the Dawson Student Union of Montreal’s Dawson College hired an ad company to sell advertising space on a free day planner, they didn’t think they would have to specify “no poker”, but it looks like they should have. On the back of the planner, handed out to students where - according to the school’s administration - more than 1,500 are underage, there is an ad for Plaza 138 Poker.   • LATE POSITION - For a particular betting round, a player who does not have to act until most of the other players have acted.
  • AMERICAN AIRLINES - In Hold'em, a pair of Aces in the hole. Better known (at least in rec.gambling) as POCKET ROCKETS.
  • WALK - A pot won by the last blind when no one opens.
  • ROYAL FLUSH - An ace-high straight flush, the best possible hand in regular poker.
  • OPENER - The player who opens the betting, especially in draw poker. A hand may have no openers, in which case it is PASSED OUT, i.e., new hands are dealt.
  • LITTLE SLICK - In Hold'em, hole cards of A-2, suited or not.
