PartyGaming posts 1H profit, but poker sales slow
PartyGaming PLC, the owner of the PartyPoker.com web site, posted a first-half profit on Friday as the group’s international online roulette, bingo and sports betting businesses boomed, but poker revenue growth slowed.

- HOLE CARDS - In Stud and Hold'em, the face-down cards dealt to each player.
- MITES AND LICE - A hand consisting of two pair, threes over twos.
- COMPUTER HAND - Texas Hold'em hole cards of Q-7 offsuit. More generically, any hand that computer analysis/simulation determines is positive but turns out to be difficult to play in practice.
- PASSED OUT. - A hand in which nobody opens. What happens next is a function of the game being played.
- STEAM - Playing wildly, calling and raising a lot, because one is upset. Compare: ON TILT.
- OPENERS - Cards in a hand that qualify a player to open the betting.
