Annual poker run brings in $3,000 for firefighters association
SPRUCEDALE The 2008 edition of The Sticks and Bones annual Motorcycle Poker Run raised over $3,000, with those funds going toward rescue equipment for the McMurrich/Monteith Volunteer Firefighters Association (MMVFA).

Poker argot:
- MANIAC - A player who bets, raises and reraises without regard to the quality of his hand. Most often found in flop games.
- OPEN-ENDED STRAIGHT - Four cards to a straight which can be completed by drawing a card at either end. E.g., 6-7-8-9 is an open-ended straight. Also: BOBTAIL STRAIGHT. Compare: INSIDE STRAIGHT.
- FREE CARD - A card dealt after all players checked in a betting round.
- HOLE CARDS - In Stud and Hold'em, the face-down cards dealt to each player.
- BRODERICK CRAWFORD - In Hold'em, hole cards of 10-4. From the 1950s TV series "Highway Patrol", starring Broderick Crawford.
- BLUFF - To make a bet or raise with a poor hand, in hope that the remaining active player(s) will fold.
