Video Poker laws broken
MAXTON A joint state and county law enforcement investigation concluded last week with the arrest of three women accused of breaking video poker gambling laws, including the owner and manager of a convenience store.

Poker lexicon:
- COLD CALL - Calling both a bet and raise at the same time, as opposed to calling a bet then later calling a raise made after the call.
- PASSED OUT. - A hand in which nobody opens. What happens next is a function of the game being played.
- TRIP - Three of a specific kind, as in "Trip sixes".
- STACKED [DECK] - A deck that has been arranged to give one player a huge advantage. Also: RIGGED.
- FLOP GAME - Any of a number of poker games where a flop is dealt.
- DOYLE BRUNSON - In Hold'em, 10-2 in the hole. So named because Doyle Brunson won two straight WSOPs (q.v.) in 1975 and 1976 with 10-2 on the last hand. (Suited (spades) in 1975, unsuited in 1976).
