Poker classes for table games dealers are under way
“Just don’t take anything personal.” These were just a few of the words of wisdom Leo Rodriguez had to share with his students on Monday, during one of the first sessions to teach people how to deal the cards in poker and get table games off the ground in Kanawha County.

Casino poker language:
- SHORT-STACKED - Playing with a only a small amount of money, thus limiting one's risk and reward.
- WIRED [PAIR] - A pair in the hole. In 5-card stud, a door card that pairs the hole card.
- PASSED OUT. - A hand in which nobody opens. What happens next is a function of the game being played.
- TOP TWO PAIR - In flop games, having hole cards that make the highest possible two pair hand.
- POT LIMIT - A game where the maximum bet is determined by the size of the pot at the time. Note that a player wanting to raise first calls the bet, then totals the pot to determine the maximum amount he can raise.
- CUT - To break the deck into 2 stacks of at least 5 cards each. Usually performed by the player to the dealer's right to insure that the the deck is not stacked.
