March of Dimes Poker on Saturday
On Saturday, May 31st the Farmers Insurance Group will be helping out the March of Dimes with a poker event that will feature a lunch and live music. The event, a charity Texas Holdem event, is called “Bettin on Babies” and will run at the Cantina Los Tres Hombres in Nevada, with an entry fee of $30. Farmers Insurance has all the details and can be reached at 775-826-3500, and is counting on the hype from the 39th annual World Series of Poker, running now through mid-July, to bring in the players for this benefit event.

Poker lingo:
- BET FOR VALUE - Betting a hand that, in the long run, is expected to win more than it loses. Antonym: BLUFF.
- STUCK - Down a nontrivial amount of money, as in "he's stuck $800".
- FAVORITE - Before all the cards are dealt, a hand that figures to be the winner. Ant: UNDERDOG.
- GUT SHOT - A draw to an inside straight, as in 2-3-4-6.
- CUT - To break the deck into 2 stacks of at least 5 cards each. Usually performed by the player to the dealer's right to insure that the the deck is not stacked.
- OMAHA - A variant of Hold'em where each player receives 4 hole cards and must use exactly two of them (together with 3 of 5 board cards) to make a hand. Often played high-low split with an 8 qualifier for low.
