Poker Player Alliance Hits One Million Membership
If there was any question before of whether or not the grassroots organization called the Poker Players Alliance was catching on, the recent milestone of hitting one million members seems to answer it neatly. The recent press relase from the PPA announced that they passed that milestone just recently, and also called for a voter registration program and announced a political action committee. Their slogan is, “If you Play, Have a Say”…

Poker lexicon:
- NUT / NUTS - The best possible hand of a given class. Not a LOCK unless all cards have been dealt. The "nut flush" is the highest possible flush, but might still lose to, e.g., a full house. Usually used in Hold'em games.
- STEAM - Playing wildly, calling and raising a lot, because one is upset. Compare: ON TILT.
- TIGHT - [1] A style of play that entails playing fewer hands than average. Antonym: LOOSE. [2] A FULL HOUSE.
- WORLD SERIES OF POKER - A series of several different poker games with relatively large buy-ins, culminating in a $10,000 buy-in no-limit Hold'em tournament, the winner of which is crowned the World Poker Champion. Sponsored by Binion's Horseshoe Club in Las Vegas.
- CALLER - One who calls. Sometimes used collectively, as in "3 callers".
- HOOK - A Jack. So named because the "J" resembles a hook.
