Big Win for Kids Thanks to Poker Event
Poker remains a popular way to raise money for charity, and the Make a Child Smile Organization found out in a big way just how popular. The recent event hosted to benefit Make a Child Smile brought in more than 50 players and raised more than $5,000. Held at a Knights of Columbus Hall the event raised enough money to provide essentials - and toys - for more than one hundred children…

Poker lexicon:
- BACK DOOR - Applies to a hand that was made in the last card or two, specifically not a hand the player was originally planning on having. Most often applied to straights and flushes.
- DOUBLE BELLY BUSTER - A two-way inside straight. E.g., 3-5-6-7-9.
- STRING BET - An unethical and often illegal means of raising whereby a player puts a call-size stack of chips into the pot and, after observing the reactions of the players, then goes back to his stack and puts out more, thus raising.
- DEAD MONEY - Money contributed to the pot by players who have folded.
- IN - Still eligible to win the pot. "I'm in" is often spoken as one adds chips to the pot, calling.
- TAP - In no-limit games, to wager all of one's money in one bet.
