Poker Politician Drops Out
The state of Washington was the first in the United States to make playing online poker a felony, a law that Attorney Lee Rousso thought was ridiculous. In order to take action against the law, which put online poker players in the same class as sex offenders, Rousso decided to run for governor. - NICKEL - Five dollars, usually represented by a red casino check.
- PAY OFF - Calling a bet with little expectation of winning, unless the opponent is bluffing.
- POT ODDS - The amount of money in the pot divided by the amount of money you must bet in order to call. Often used to determine if a pot offers enough reward to play on the come.
- STAND OFF - To call a raise. "Opener raises, I stand off".
- BET FOR VALUE - Betting a hand that, in the long run, is expected to win more than it loses. Antonym: BLUFF.
- STUCK - Down a nontrivial amount of money, as in "he's stuck $800".
