Poker Lawsuit Called into Question
The company that has been putting so many poker dealers out of work is facing their own financial challenge, thanks to a lawsuit from a rival company. PokerTek, which manufactures poker tables that run games without the benefit of dealers, thanks to advanced AI poker software and touch screen terminals, has become the target of a lawsuit from Lighting Poker, which is suing on the basis of patent infringement. Useful poker terms:
- ASSAULT RIFLE - In Omaha, hole cards that are A-K-4-7 of any suit(s).
- S&M - Sklansky & Malmuth. Generally refers to the ideas and algorithms published by these two authors. When used in a 7-card stud context, often refers to "7 Card Stud For Advanced Players", and when used in a Hold'em context, often refers to "Texas Hold'em For Advanced Players".
- TAPPED [OUT] - Out of money. Can refer to a player running out of money in the course of a hand, thus still active for the main pot; or can refer to a player who has lost his bankroll and can no longer play.
- FOLD - To decline to call a bet, thus dropping out of a hand.
- SIDE POT - When an active player runs out of money during the course of a hand, the remaining players participate in a second or SIDE POT for the rest of the hand. Additional side pots are possible if several players run out of money at different points in a hand.
- LIVE [CARD] - In Stud, a card probably not held by other players.
