Marianela Pereyra New for Poker After Dark
The former Video DJ Marianela Pereyra has reportedly taken over as hostess for the hit NBC poker show Poker After Dark, replacing the popular and long running Shana Hiatt in the role. Pereyra has big shoes to fill, as Shana is considered the “original poker hostess”, starting out with the World Poker Tour and being the face of poker there for three years. Pereyra also ranked in at number ten in the AskMen.com top ten poker women poll…

Poker lexicon:
- MILES OF BAD ROAD - Three of a kind. Prefixed with a number, 3*<N>, to indicate 3 <N>s. Thus "24 miles of bad road" is 3 eights, etc. (This obviously doesn't work for face cards.)
- TAPPED [OUT] - Out of money. Can refer to a player running out of money in the course of a hand, thus still active for the main pot; or can refer to a player who has lost his bankroll and can no longer play.
- MIDDLE POSITION - Betting positions approximately halfway around the table from the first player to act.
- PASSED OUT. - A hand in which nobody opens. What happens next is a function of the game being played.
- STUCK - Down a nontrivial amount of money, as in "he's stuck $800".
- ACTION - Money that is being bet. "NO ACTION" means a hand or game has few bettors and fewer raisers. "Gimme some action" is ostensibly a plea for calls and raises.
